Covid-19 museum on cards in Kolkata to commemorate pandemic fight

To commemorate the frontline workers who died in the battle against the coronavirus and document how lives have changed amid the pandemic, doctors are planning to set up a museum in Kolkata. The museum will showcase items like PPE kits, masks, gloves and sanitisers, besides several other materials that became essential in the fight against the virus, West Bengal Doctors Forum (WBDF) office-bearer Dr Rajiv Pandey said on Wednesday. A proposal has been sent to the state government and a final nod is awaited, Dr Pandey said. This pandemic has come after more than 100 years, even our grandparents have never seen something that we are witnessing, he told PTI.

Malaysia to study Sinovac clinical trial data before approving vaccine

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysia, which is negotiating supplies of a COVID-19 vaccine with China s Sinovac Biotech, will only go ahead with procurement if it satisfies the safety and efficacy standards of local regulators, a minister said on Wednesday. Brazil has triggered concerns over Sinovac s vaccine, after clinical trials found that it was only 50.4% effective at preventing symptomatic infections. The findings were released just as Indonesia rolled out one of the world s biggest coronavirus vaccination campaigns on Wednesday, with President Joko Widodo being the first to be inoculated with Sinovac s CoronaVac vaccine. Malaysia will first review Sinovac s clinical data before deciding, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said on Twitter. If we are not satisfied with the safety and efficacy, we will not go through with the procurement, Khairy said.
